The PAN2SSXSSA3C transceiver is a 10G/10G hot-pluggable module with built-in NGPON2 ONU MAC functions in a modified and improved SFP+ housing, commonly known as "NGPON2-on-astick" or "NGPON2 stick". It can tune and operate in full 4 channels/wavelengths, according to ITU G.989.2 and ITU G.989.3/OpenOMCI, with 9.95328Gbps in both continuous-mode downstream and burst-mode upstream, and supports distances up to 20 km.

The PAN2SSXSSA3C can be plugged into a networking equipment with SFP+ port to enable automatic direct connection to the NGPON2 network, as it comprises the ONU management system, including auto-discovery, provisioning, and alarms.

This module also provides digital diagnostic information of its operating conditions and status, including module temperature, transmitter and receiver optical power and supply voltage according to SFF-8472 and ITU G989.2 recommendation.
